If you do not want to place the TTA button on your site, you are still more than welcome to join in the blog hop, you will just not be eligible to be the Blog Hopper of the Week.

Each week, one blog will be chosen randomly from all the links, and that lucky blog will be placed in the desirable second slot for the following week's MckLinky!

This week's lucky blog hopper is #70, HaupLight. Congratulations!

Deadline is Tomorrow

Well, the tuition fees are due tomorrow. I'll be making a trip to the bank, and then to the program office to pay the fees that my daughter has EARNED (and also to ask for the extension for the rest). I'll let you know how that goes. Wish me luck!

We've had such a busy month and a half with all the fundraising going on! We've baked countless batches of cookies and brownies for our own little "bake sale"-type fundraising. My daughter has sold chocolates and suckers to friends and family. She's sold some mood jewelry of ours too. And then, of course, our Etsy sales went 100% towards the scholarship fund as well. It was fun, and my daughter is learning that she has to work for things she really wants. Even though we didn't quite make the goal, it's a good feeling to have come so close! And I'm just glad that work ethic is being learned, because that's important to have later on in life. =)

Well, I just want to thank all of my followers for reading. I'm so glad to have you all as followers. =) I'm working on doing a little makeover for our Etsy shop, so I'll keep you updated on that. Pretty soon I should have a dazzling new banner to show you all!

Fundraising Goal Update for Scholarship Fund

I wanted to give you all an update on the Fundraising goal for the scholarship fund. The tuition fees are due this Tuesday, June 1st. Our goal was to raise $1000.
You can read about the scholarship fund by clicking the link below:
http://2justbyou.blogspot.com/2010/04/fundraising-goal-for-scholarship-fund.html
Although we came pretty close to our goal, we didn't quite make it. We raised $700, but we're $300 short of the full tuition amount. Because o
f this, she will have to drop one computer class. When I go to the office to pay the fees on Tuesday, I will ask if they'll accept an extension for the remaining $300, because I know that in two more weeks we could raise the rest. If they do not accept extensions for payment, though, no worries - there's always next year. She'll be taking three courses this summer for sure, and earning 12 high school credits if she receives grades of an A in each class.

And we've decided to keep the scholarship fund account open and raise money throughout the year for all our childrens' educational needs supporting higher learning. The section in our shop called "HANDMADE by the KIDS" is a section dedicated to raising funds specifically for the family scholarship fund. We are trying to get a jump start on next year's summer courses, so all sales from our Etsy shop from now until the end of June are still going to go toward the scholarship fund.

Still So Slow

My computer isn't having the best of days. It's been so slow for the past couple of days...Still so slow that I could not do the feature shop for Friday. My apologies for that. I hope you understand. I'll be working on new ways to try and get this thing running a bit faster. Right now, I just don't have the resources to take it in to the "doctor." Hopefully, little tricks might work and just tide me over until I can really get it fixed. We'll see...We had gone out of town, and when I got back and turned the computer on again, it was once again slow...So weird. Right before I left it was actually ALMOST back up to speed (except for certain sites and stuff). Now it's like it went backwards or something.

School's Out!

SCHOOL'S OUT for my daughter! Her summer school classes start on June 21st. Tuition is due by the first of June, though. Although we'll be paying the fees by June 1st, we will still be raising money for her scholarship fund. We've decided that we'll be fundraising year-round for the fund, in hopes that we won't have to raise as much next year in such a limited amount of time. Next year, she will probably be taking another four classes, if we can pull it off.

Right now, we've only got about $400 more to raise for the full tuition to be covered for this year's summer classes!!! With less than a week left until our deadline, she's busy selling chocolates and lollipops. Throughout the past month, though, she's managed to sell quite a bit of our mood jewelry! So we've been raising money for her scholarship fund, and getting our justByou name out there too! NICE!

Meanwhile, we're busy working on some new additions for our justBgreen line, and the kids are working on more items to add to our "HANDMADE by the KIDS" section. Stay tuned, because I'll post them HERE first!!!

=) Have a great Wednesday!

Forgot to mention...

SOLD!!! One of the key chains/zipper pulls from our newest section "Handmade by the KIDS" sold over the weekend!!! My son was so excited - just picture a big smile. =) And remember, money made from this section goes to the kids' scholarship fund. We are so excited! I'll be relisting the key chains/zipper pulls later today, so feel free to stop by our shop and take a peek!

A Litte Faster Now

And so --- it's not completely fixed, but the computer is running a little faster now!!! This is good news. I guess I'll have to do more to really fix the problem, but for now, as long as it's running faster, it's OK...........for right now. Maybe I'll just break down and get a new computer. I don't know yet.

Anyway, I'm participating in the Monday Madness blog hop again today. Because - why not? So, here it is. =)

Feature for Friday 5/21/10

This week I'm featuring a fabulous UK seller! Hooray for the UK (I'd love to visit some day)! Since my computer is oh-so-slow these days, I'm just going to start right now. Please meet Jane, owner and creator of picciolo on Etsy!Jane says, "picciolo makes useful and stylish handmade items for you and your home, including jewelry, accessories, pouches and stationery. Perfect for yourself or as gifts."

One of my first faves from Jane's shop is the bright and colorful ceramic pendant. These pendants come in many different colors and are offered in two shapes - rectangle and circle. They come on a tan leather cord with lobster clasp closure. The pendants are simple and fun, yet make a bold statement and will brighten up your day! The price is right too - at only $14.00, one of these beauties can be yours! Please CLICK HERE for more info.

Another great find from picciol
o is the cute and stylish pouches. There are different sizes available, and I chose to show you the small size, about 4.5 inches X 4.5 inches (or 11.5 cm X 11.5 cm). One of the things that drew me to Jane's shop is the vibrant colors that she uses in her work! I love it! The pouch that I'm showing you is a bright turquoise with snap button closure. It's padded and lightweight, and it's the perfect size for holding all your little essentials while on the go. Please CLICK HERE to find out more.

Next, a pretty little notebook, perfect for anyone! Jane says, "
This notebook has been hand sewn with a felt and fabric circle and then hand painted with a leaf and plant motif. No two of these notebooks will ever be exactly the same as I hand sew and paint each design, so you will have a notebook that is very individual to you. The notebook itself is a Muji ruled book, with 60 lined pages. It measures 14.5 x 20.8 cm (approximately A5 size)." I love Jane's designs! Check out the full item description - CLICK HERE.picciolo also offers items for your home! This is one of my favorites from the shop, a foldable fabric box. These boxes can be so useful around the house! Organize everything, and when you don't need to use it, you can fold it up and store your box away for another day, another use! The felt boxes are "handstitched using felt which has been strengthened on the front and back faces to provide stability, and it also folds flat for ease of posting and storage. Each box comes with a separate strengthened felt piece to put in the bottom when the box is open, to make it even more sturdy." Check out the entire line of picciolo's foldable fabric boxes, please CLICK HERE.

Some fun facts about piccolio:
** Jane is from the UK!
** She is a graphic designer by day, and loves to sew/paint at night (when the little one is asleep).
** She welcomes wholesale inquiries!
** picciolo items have been featured on cuteable, indiequarter and printandpattern!

Still So Slow

The computer is still so slow!
Because of this completely irritating slowness, I won't be blogging very much for the next week. I will post the Feature for Friday this week tomorrow, and then I'm really going to have to find a way to fix my computer problem. I can't say exactly how long this will take, and I'll try to make a couple of posts to let all my wonderful readers know what's going on - I promise. =)

Wish me luck...I have a feeling it's much needed.

Computer Problems

So my computer is having some serious issues. Really. I don't know what happened. I can go online, but it's really slow. I mean --- REALLY, REALLY SLOW!!! Even when it's offline, it's still going pretty slow. Any tech savvy followers out there? Maybe you could offer me some suggestions? I'm hoping I didn't catch some sort of virus or something. That would not be fun at all. So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that this gets fixed. And soon!

A Monday Madness Blog Hop

So I just found another blog hop that's NOT on Fridays. I joined, just for the fun of it. =) I couldn't find the button for it, but I found the blog hop from Traci's blog at Traci66. It's a brand new blog hop, just started by the two hostesses (the first two blogs listed). Traci was kind enough to leave a comment telling me where to grab that button! So here it is:

I'll be doing the Tuesday Tag-Along later this evening too. So, yeah - it's a busy blog day for me!

The Instructions for Monday Madness 5/17/10:
It's really easy to participate with us! Just follow the steps below and you'll be set!

1.Follow the hostess blogs at
Saving Obsession and The Tuckers Take Tennessee for some Madness Lovin'.

2.Grab the McLinky code and make a post on your blog about Monday Madness, so more people can join in the fun! Also grab the Monday Madness button above.

3.Add your blog name and link to the McLinky below.

4.Check out some of the blogs on the list and follow ones you like. Leave a comment to let them know you're from Monday Madness.

5.If someone follows your blog, follow them back to keep the Madness going.

6.Each week we will "feature" a new blog right below. Who knows, it could be you next week!

In a Treasury!

Well, we were out of town (and away from computers) for the weekend, but I came back home to see a great convo in our Etsy account --- an item of ours is in a treasury!!!

http://www.etsy.com/treasury/4bf0c2fb4d168eef4976fbe9/third-eye-awareness

Click the link to go and check it out. Louise added our Egyptian Eye SunCatcher to her beautiful treasury.

On Friday, I wish I would have gotten online before we left, because there was a convo in our Etsy account telling me that one of our items (the keychains, handmade by the kids) was an alternate in a treasury. So this is exciting too, even as an alternate.

I'm still not familiar with all the treasury stuff. I just haven't taken the time to really see what they're all about. Being in a treasury, though, is giving me a reason to look into it for sure. =) So, who knows? Maybe I'll be creating my first treasury pretty soon!

A Blog Award!

I received a blog award! Woohoo! This is my FIRST blog award, and it was given to me by a great blogger, Traci at Traci66! I'm excited to have received this award, and I'm also SO excited to pass it on by nominating 10 blogs that I enjoy as well.

Anyways, once you receive the award, you are supposed to give this award to 10 other sweet and friendly bloggers. Here are the rules:

-Make a post about the award including the picture and mention the person who gave it to you.

-Put the award on your blog.

-Let your nominated 10 know you've awarded them by leaving a comment.

Here are my 10 nominees:

1. My friend Pennie at Pernilla's Something Swedish
2. Julee at Mommy's Memorandum
3. Danelle at By Hand Giveaways
4. Brandy at Giveaway Blogdom
5. Jenn at Who Doesn't Love Coupons?
6. Maryia at Shapes and Memories
7. Nicole at Going Green in 2010
8. Sarah at On the Search for Hidden Treasure

I have so many great blogs that I am following, and I'm finding new ones every week!!! For my nominees, however, I chose blogs that I've been following for more than a week (and I also did not choose any blogs that were on Traci66's list of nominees). Thanks again, Traci!!! =)

I do want to let all my fabulous readers know that there will not be a Feature Shop for this Friday, as I have to go out of town for the weekend. So, I will be back on Monday, and I hope you'll all stop by then! =) Thanks!!!

Some Moody Key Rings

Newly listed, these key rings are both charming AND moody!

First, I was going to list them under the justBmoody section, but then I realized - it's not a piece of jewelry! So, with these new key rings, you get the best of both worlds with our justBcharming and justBmoody sections. If you like the mood jewelry style, but you don't wear much jewelry, then these key rings are just 4 you!

Check them out in our shop! =)

NEW SECTION IN OUR SHOP!

Please help me in welcoming the newest section in our shop! Visit our justByou Etsy shop today, and take a look at the key chains made by our middle child, a 7-year-old.

justByou.etsy.com

The new section is called "Handmade by the KIDS." The first listing in the section - the snazzy little key chains that I posted here on my blog yesterday. =) I hope you all check it out and leave a comment telling me (us) what you think!

I learned something while creating the listing for the new section too. You see, I decided to use an inactive listing to create the key chain listing. Instead of creating a new one, I just went to the inactive listings. For my first ever giveaway, the winner chose the Crystal Moon Mood Necklace (I had made only one of those, and I won't be replacing it for at least a couple of weeks). So I figured, why not go ahead and use that inactivity? I mean, I paid the fee for it, and it's not set to expire for another two months. Why not just edit that and put it back to use? So that's what I did. I did some major editing, and I replaced the whole item description with the key chain info. Then, when I posted it (which was just a little bit ago), I went to the shop and took a peek. It was listed in the same order as it was when it was listed as the Crystal Moon Mood Necklace, and all the hearts are still on the item! I had not thought of the item having hearts!!! I had forgotten that people had hearted it! So now, I'm giving my sincere apology for those that have the Crystal Moon Mood Necklace hearted, because that listing isn't the same anymore! I completely changed it up, but it's still in your faves. If you're reading, please feel free to delete it from your fave items that are hearted. I didn't mean to intrude like that. Boy, did I learn something new today!!!

I also wanted to mention that this new section is made by the kids, and it's for the kids. All sales from this section will be going to go to their scholarship fund. Since creating the scholarship fund for our daughter, we've decided that we're going to keep it throughout the years for all of our kids. They can fundraise all year long for their educational goals. I'm liking the idea, because our daughter's fees for the summer school program are NOT cheap, and if she can raise money here and there throughout the year, it will help us reach the goal that much quicker for next year's courses!

I would also like to say WELCOME to all my new followers too! I'm so glad that you're following, glad to have you here, and I hope you'll have fun reading my blog. =)

Thank you ALL for reading! I hope you'll like our newest section. The kids are having a blast already and thinking of what they're going to make next!

What do you think?

The kids have been working on some creations, all on their own. I've been thinking of adding them to our Etsy shop, under a new section specifically for their projects. I don't know if anyone would be interested in buying them, but I think the kids have been trying so hard, and having so much fun, that we've got to try it out.

These key chains/zipper pulls were made by my 7-year-old.

What do you think? Should we add these to our shop?

Feature for Friday 5/7/10

For this Friday's Feature Shop, I'm presenting a great shop I found that also gives back to the community by donating 5% of every purchase to the Salvation Army. I love that!!! I'm jumping right in, and I hope you will visit this shop and find something you love. =) Please meet Missy, owner of Luvy Duvy on Etsy.
Missy says in her shop announcement for Luvy Duvy:
"
I have always wanted to do something really creative but give back at the same time. So for every purchase I will be donating 5% to the Salvation Army!"
Her s
hop is full of whimsical creations and vintage finds, and I'm sharing with you a few of my favorites. Enjoy!

First, an item that's been in my favorites for a bit - and it's NOW ON SALE in Missy's shop!!! The description reads:

"Decorate a fridge, desk, locker, with these cuties that can hold grocery lists, pictures, postcards, etc. You will receive 5 magnets that spell out the word LAUGH out of scrabble tiles. The tiles are adorned to clothespins that are different shades of blue."
Something about these little magnets just made me smile when I saw them. =) And now they're on sale, which is even better. Missy also has another set of this type of magnets, in pink - and spelling the wo

Lemons and Life

"WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS, MAKE LEMONADE."
This is what they say, right? Well, here's what I say:
When you make lemonade, don't you add sugar so it's not just plain sour???

I'm having a bad day. If life gave me lemons today, then I just received a whole truckload! And who wants lemonade without the bit of sugar that makes it actually drinkable?

So I st
op, take a deep breath and think awhile. I look at the pictures on the wall, and I realize that my sugar comes in the form of three beautiful children. So yeah, I've got a truckload of lemons today. And I'll go ahead and make lemonade, because my sugar is sweet enough to take the edge off of all that sourness.

So if anyone else is out there and having a bad day. Stop and take just a minute to think. Take a deep breath. Think about what your sugar is. And then use your sugar to make your lemonade!

When life is tough, and it seems that it can't get any worse, just remember to keep your head held high. Be positive. Stay positive. Even if lemons are oh-so-sour, you've got sugar stashed somewhere (even if it's hard for you to find), and once you have your sugar, you can make lemonade - and it will be sweet. I consider myself to be lucky, because my sugar was easy to find. We all have sugar somewhere, though, and a little sugar is all that's needed to finish the lemonade recipe.

Here's a quick and easy lemonade recipe from AllRecipes.com
(makes 4 servings):
Ingredients:
1 large lemon, peeled & seeded
1/2 cup white sugar
3 cups cold water
ice cubes (about 6)
Directions:
Place all ingredients into a blender. Blend until smooth and serve immediately.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you're all having a better day than I am. But as I sit and think about how fortunate I am to have found my sugar so quickly, it motivates me to keep working hard with all of our creations for our Etsy shop. So I'm going to make some new items today, and maybe even get to take the photos too. It's so weird how some sour lemons can bring some inspiration...

Sunny Days

So we've been having some sunny days out here in California! It's great, but at the same time, those allergies keep sneaking up on me (especially with the wind)!!! No matter what kind of allergy medication I take, it still doesn't ever work, and my eyes get all watery, so very itchy and puffy --- it gets to the point where it looks like I've been crying all day or something! And the sneezing never stops!

I have to just tell the kids, "It's OK, you don't have to say 'bless you,' because you'll be sa
ying it all day." So I just keep going on - watery, puffy eyes and all. And we enjoy the sunny days, playing outside with bubbles, sidewalk chalk and the basketball hoop (a new fave of the boys).

And then on the news this morning, we see there might be a slight chance of showers early next week...So I guess we'd better enjoy these sunny days while we can, even if it's windy and making the allergies a bit worse...I'll still make it through the day. I'm a mom, and that's what we do!

I've joined a blog hop!

I've heard of the Friday Follow blog hop, and I kind of wondered what that was all about. And then I saw this sweet little Tuesday Tag Along...I thought it went along a little better with my schedule, because I don't always have time on Fridays to post. So, I joined a blog hop! More readers is always a good thing, but what's more - I can find great new blogs to read. =) I've found so many good ones already. And I love to leave comments. I found the blog hop through Giveaway Blogdom, which you might remember as the blog that did a feature on our shop!

I like this blog hop for two reasons.
1. It's on Tuesdays.
2. It shows avatars (that's much more fun than a long list of links).

Here's how it works:
  • Create a new Tuesday Tag-Along blog post.
  • Add your blog name and the URL of your TTA post to the MckLinky below.
  • Follow Twee Poppets, the hostess blog listed in the first slot. Leave a comment saying you've followed, and Twee Poppets will follow you back!
  • If you can, please follow the blogs in the three slots before you (e.g., if you're number 20, follow numbers 19, 18, and 17). This is not mandatory, but it will help ensure that everyone who signs up gets a few new followers!
  • Follow as many other blogs as you want. The more you follow, the more that will follow you back! Be sure to tell them that you're following from Tuesday Tag-Along! You may also want to leave a link to your blog so they can return your follow more easily.
  • When you get a new follower through Tuesday Tag-Along, be sure to follow them back! It's just common courtesy. :)
The weekly Tuesday Tag-Along post and MckLinky will be posted every Monday night at 8:59pm Pacific Standard Time (that's 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time), and the MckLinky will be open to add your blog until 11:59pm Tuesday night. You then have all week long to visit blogs and return follows!

I won a giveaway!

Do you remember me blogging about a giveaway that was going on? My friend Pennie had a giveaway on the blog called Who Doesn't Love Coupons. I entered, and I blogged about it. Then I completely forgot to go back and comment on the blog, letting the author know that I blogged about the giveaway! I was so bummed, because I had missed extra entries with that. Well, over the weekend, I received an email saying that I was the winner!!! Woohoo!!!

I'm still so excited about it. I never win anything, so this was a real treat of an email to receive!
This is what I won.
I can't wait to receive my goodies in the mail!

And so...I went back to the blog Who Doesn't Love Coupons to see what new giveaway is going on, and I entered a new one. Interested? Check it out with the link below!

I originally found the blog from my friend Pennie. I'm loving it! I just learned how to get rid of that word verification thingy that comes up when you want to leave a comment. Yay! Visit the blog, I'm sure you'll love it too. =)

Winner of Mother's Day Giveaway!!!

And we have a winner!!! The winner is...*drumroll*... Clenna!!! Congratulations, Clenna!

So many entries (94 total!), and my 4-year-old son just drew the name out of the hat. (The kids have so much fun doing this.) Follower Clenna is the winner, and the prize is $10 credit to our shop. Please email me at 2justByou@gmail.com with your shipping information and prize choice by 12 noon (pacific time) tomorrow, May 4th. If I don't hear from you, I will be forced to draw another name.

Once again, I had so much fun with this giveaway. I love the questions/answers, and getting to know my lovely readers! While at the same time, I hope you get to know me a little bit as well. It's great, and I hope you had fun with it too. There will be another giveaway very soon (I've got three kids, and they each need a turn to draw a winner - you know, to be fair!). Please stay tuned and keep reading, so you won't miss the next giveaway!!!

------------------------------------
Also, look at the progress that we're making with my daughter's scholarship fund for summer school!!! We've raised a total of $255 so far, and today I just got a wonderful email that there will be a donation of buttons for my daughter to sell! I'm so happy and grateful for this. =)

So many of my wonderful readers participated in this giveaway. Thanks for being a part of my blog, and sharing your thoughts! If you didn't win this giveaway, you still have a chance to win a pair of clear crystal heart earrings this month! Mother's Day Giveaway Question #8

For Mother's Day Giveaway info, please CLICK HERE.
I wanted to post this early, because I'll be out all day tomorrow and won't have any computer time. So here it is! Last question for the Mother's Day Giveaway!

Question #8

If you could take a vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

My answer:
I'd love to travel around Europe, because I've never been there before, and there's so much there that I want to see! If given the chance to go just about any place or foreign country, though, I'd take the opportunity if it was possible. I think travel is one of those things where there are just endless possibilities for adventure and exploration, no matter where it is (near or far from home).

So what about you? What's your ultimate dream vacation if it could be to anywhere in the world? =)

Question #7

What is one of your favorite movies?

My answer:
Well, one of the best movies that I've watched of all time would have to be Titanic. I love all kinds of movies, really, so it's even hard for me to choose just one (yet again). But, Titanic is one of those timeless movies, I think.

What about you? What's one of your favorite movies?
