Sick Kiddo

It's no fun being a sick kiddo, especially when you're on Christmas vacation (and you got the flu shot too!). Our oldest son woke up in the middle of the night with what must be the stomach flu, and he's not liking it at all.

Click here to see original image location.

Now I've got to keep reminding all others in the house to WASH HANDS!!! Hand sanitizer is in every room as well. I hope nobody else gets sick, including me. I haven't been sick yet this year, so wish me luck. We've already been through a fight with pneumonia in this household, so this stomach flu is definitely NOT cool.

Pistachio Pudding Recipe

Many of you had commented on my blog post Always Thankful wondering about the pistachio pudding. This recipe is super easy and super quick! Try it out and see what you think! I apologize for some of the pictures not being so great. My camera was about to die on me.

One large tub Cool Whip (16 oz)
One large can crushed pineapple
(all I had on hand was the smaller size can)

Two packages (3.4 oz size) Jello instant pudding - pistachio flavor

Pour all of the Cool Whip into large mixing bowl.

Add the pudding mixes to the cool whip and mix well.
Picture shows how it looks after mixed.

Next, add the crushed pineapple (don't drain!) and stir into the mixture.
Pictures before & after mixing the pineapple.

Cover and chill in refrigerator at least over night, but it's even better after 24 hours. Usually I just put it back into the Cool Whip tub to save space in the refrigerator. You can transfer to a serving dish later.

You can also add some shelled crushed pistachios too, if you like.
You can cut this recipe in half too, using the smaller tub of cool whip, small can of crushed pineapple and only one package of pudding mix.

Mother Butter Review

Today I am sharing with you a really special treat for dry skin! It's winter time, and the air is cold...Your skin can become so incredibly dry...Mother Butter is what you need!

Sha'lise is the owner of Mother Butter and contacted me after reading about how my youngest son suffers from severe eczema. She sent me a small sample of her Original Mother Butter Body Souffle. I'm so glad she did! (Thanks again, Sha'lise!)

This is some of what she says about her product:

Mother Butter is free of chemicals, preservatives, fragrance, and dye. It's 100% organic, non-toxic and vegan. It's the safest, softest, most natural skin care choice for infants, Mom, Dad, and the Grandies too!

My son's skin is extremely sensitive. He has had skin infections on and off all of his little life. He has endured three hospitalizations and so many different prescription and non-prescription medications that we can't even count them anymore! We have also tried almost every single lotion and cream on the market. His skin still suffers...

We were happy to try Mother Butter, as we are always happy to try something new that just might work for him. These are our thoughts on the product:

  • Words we would use to describe the souffle: light, fluffy, airy, soft.
  • You only need a small amount to massage into skin, and you can feel results right away!
  • We LOVE the fact that it is non-toxic, even if swallowed!
  • Since you only need such a small amount, it is long-lasting.

Did the souffle work on my son's skin? Yes and no. It's great for areas like the back of his neck, hands, and face, or anywhere that his skin is not broken with open wounds. His legs and arms get too many open wounds for us to be able to apply the souffle in those areas. Sometimes his neck suffers too, but he has not yet broken the skin there since using Mother Butter.

Did I use the souffle on Baby Girl? Yes, I did! And it works wonderfully for her, as her eczema is not near as severe as her older brother's. Just a tiny bit of Mother Butter for her goes a long way. When her skin just begins to look dry, I put some Mother Butter on, and it worked like magic - Poof! Soft & smooth baby skin again.

Did I use this for myself? Oh yes, I did! After I first applied it to my kids' skin, I could feel how deep this souffle penetrates - even just on my fingers! I used it on my hands, which always get dry during the cold weather. It's GREAT!!!

Mother Butter is definitely something that I would recommend. It has so many uses, and you need only apply such a small amount to see it work its magic. Seriously! We have tried many different creams, and none of them have been quite like this. You should give it a try!

Sample Size

Mother Butter offers a sample size! It's only $2, and Sha'lise covers the shipping too! It's a great way to test it out and see how it works. You've got nothing to lose, but dry skin!

Plus, right now, you can get Mother Butter - the full 4 ounce size - for 40% off regular price! And still with FREE SHIPPING! You can't pass up this terrific sale! It's for a limited time only, so hurry and don't miss out!!!

Visit Mother Butter today, and try this wonderful body souffle! I'm headed there today!

Twilight Inspired

My daughter is a huge Twilight fan. The movie Breaking Dawn Part 1 is the first of the Twilight Saga film series that she did NOT attend on the day of its release. She LOVED the first movie. So much, in fact, that she wanted to read the book series by Stephenie Meyer. Yes, these were the books that motivated her to read more! And now she reads constantly, nonstop (thank you, Stephenie Meyer!).

After seeing that first Twilight movie in 2008, my daughter and I made this Twilight Inspired necklace for her:

It's not the greatest picture, but this necklace was our first attempt at handstamping. We've done some more handstamping, but nothing major - just for fun. My daughter is thinking of making a couple of necklaces for her friends for Christmas gifts. What do you think of her necklace?

Always Thankful

I realized that I did not yet share with you our Thanksgiving feast! I had pictures ready for the post, but I guess I got sidetracked with Black Friday and Cyber Monday preparations...

Well, my family's Thanksgiving holiday was a good one. My mom came to visit from Southern California and stayed almost the whole week. We spent tons of time in the kitchen - because she's a great cook, and me - not so great. ;)

Here is some of what we had for our Thanksgiving dinner:

The Yummy Turkey

Cornbread Dressing

Pistachio Pudding

Corn Souffle

Pumpkin Pie & Sour Cream Lemon Pie

These were some of the kid favorites. We also had mashed potatoes & gravy (an absolute holiday meal MUST) and sweet potatoes too (the kind with the toasted marshmallows on top!). Not to mention broccoli (the kids decided they wanted broccoli instead of green beans).

It was a huge feast, and I am always thankful for having family to spend time with and have fun!

And now Thanksgiving is passed and gone...It's already time to start thinking about what we will have for Christmas dinner! Hhhhmmm...I'm not sure yet. What are you planning for your holiday dinner this year?

Fever + Teething = No Sleep

Baby girl is finally getting more teeth. She's only had one, and it's so sad to see her want to bite into things when she can't without teeth. Well, now she's getting in two (or maybe more) at once, and it's gotten her in a cranky mood! Plus, there's a fever along with it, so she's not been the happy camper. Not too much sleep going on...So our weekend has been an interesting one, to say the least.

She's had the little tooth on the right for awhile now, but the other bottom tooth is coming in, and one of her top teeth too! Can you see the other bottom one poking out?

On the upside...Did I mention she's walking now? Since Thanksgiving, she's been running around like crazy! =)

Chocolate Bananas for School

So last night was spent making chocolate frozen bananas for my daughter's class today. The school is having a food fair, and to top that off, her last class of the day will be full of food too! I know she won't come home hungry...

We made two kinds: Vanilla Orange Chocolate & Milk Chocolate. The orange bananas came about because we wanted to try to do different autumn colors. But in the end, we both agreed that the milk chocolate bananas just have a be
tter look.

Vanilla Orange Chocolate

Milk Chocolate
The milk chocolate bananas look a whole lot better, don't they? Well, she's taking both to school today, and we'll find out which ones the kids like better.

We almost have our Peppermint Barks ready to add to our shop too. Here is a picture of what will be added later today!

What do you think? Does it look yummy? Do you like peppermint chocolate? I do!
