The Picnik is Over
Just last week as I logged in to my Picnik account to quickly edit a few photos, a large pop-up appeared..."Picnik will be closing" - and it's closing on April 19, 2012! I've been using Picnik since the beginning, really. It was suggested to me by another Etsy shop owner. It's very easy to use, simple, and best of all - FREE. But now...The Picnik is over. =(

I'm looking for another free program (preferably also simple and easy to use). I downloaded Picasa, but I'm having a couple of issues with it already (can't seem to figure out how to re-size a photo!).
So now I ask you this: What photo editing software do you use or what would you recommend?

That is really sad about Picnik. :( I use Picasa pretty much exclusively and love it. It obviously isn't a very powerful program, like Photoshop or Lightroom are, but it does all of the basics beautifully.
I never used Picnik. When I had my PC, the photo editing program that came with it was great for me. Now I have a mac, and I use the iPhoto for editing.
I got these links from a Handmadeology post, so I don't necessarily recommend them as I haven't tried them yet. I must be waiting for the nail on Picnik's coffin.

And I've used befunky.com a couple of times, too. Nothing compares to Picknik! Wah!
I wish I could help. I have never use Picnik, but I heard it was great. I use a program I bought at Office Max. It was inexpensive, and very easy to use.

Hi there
I am sooo sad Picnik is closing..I have used them since the beginning too and even pay for the premium account [it's worth every penny to me!]. I have started using Pixlr.com and it's free also, and nearly as good, but I will truly miss Picnik - I was just using it last night in fact and will until April 19 :)

I downloaded Picasa, but I'm still using Picnik until they close.
Thank you all for your comments and for sharing what you use! It's all so helpful. =)
I'm in the same boat as you, I love Picnik and will use it till it closes. I will try some of the things people have suggested in the comments though!
I've been using a very old version of Microsoft PictureIt. It was inexpensive and I find it's easy to use. I know what you mean though....when you get used to something it's so hard to change. My daughter wanted me to learn photoshop, but I don't see the need since this easy and simple program works for me. Good Luck.
Happiness to ALL !
i use helicon filter, the free version...
In terms of free options, I like Pixlr.com. But I've recently been getting back into Photoshop after several years away from it, and I just love it. You can do so much.
We recommend Gimp where I work, it's more similar to Photoshop than Picnik (not as user friendly, but more functional). It's free: http://download.cnet.com/GIMP/3000-2192_4-10073935.html
Good luck!

I use picasa and I really find it useful!
I use Picasa. But I understand that Gimp is a very good program.
