Facebook vs. Twitter

Are you on facebook

Do you use Twitter?

Which one is your favorite?

We use both of these social media outlets, but I like using Twitter more.  I find it easier and less time consuming.  I use hootsuite to schedule tweets, and that's super helpful as well (you don't have to use hootsuite just for twitter either.  I highly encourage you to try hootsuite, no matter what social media you use).  I often go through and look at everyone else's tweets, because all it takes is a quick glance.  I even retweet now and then.  =)

With facebook, I find it more difficult.  It could be because when I set up the facebook page for our Etsy shop, I completely messed up, making it a little different than most fan pages (oh well).  I just find it hard to be interactive on facebook too.  Do you face the same problem?  Have any suggestions?
However, I do use my facebook account for other social media sites, such as Pinterest.  Sometimes Etsy friends nudge me into signing in to facebook too, so I can't say that I never use it, because I do.
In an effort to become more involved with our shop's facebook page, in the very near future, we'll be offering items not found in our Etsy shop exclusively on facebook...Stay tuned for more on that later!

What are your thoughts on facebook and twitter?  Which one do you use more, and what do you like and/or dislike about either one?  Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts!

For some reason I seem to get more interaction via Twitter. on Facebook, I get lots of like on my posts, but rarely comments. I like both platforms, but for different reasons. I prefer sharing images on Facebook, and when there is interaction, I like how all of the comments are easily accessible.

I liek that on Twitter I am more comfortable with posting more often. On FB I limit myself to 2 or 3 posts a day, spanning them hours apart so I don't clog up anyone's wall. On Twitter, it's different. I could post every hour on the hour and probably not bother anyone (as long as I wasn't just posting links, of course.) I like how instant and real-time twitter is in comparison.

Oh, and i like how all of my followers can see my posts, and I don't have to pay to "promote" them. That goes without saying of course...

From a biz point of view I prefer Twitter as well. I get more re-tweets and more views from Twitter than Facebook. Like Megan, I'll get likes on my posts but no real interaction. I also like that Twitter is simple, to the point and quicker.

However from a personal point of view I tend to engage with other shops on Facebook rather than Twitter. I honestly think it's just because of pictures since I tend to scan the page rather than read it and a picture catches my eye better than text.

I use both, and I agree HootSuite is the best for working with both these social medias. I find Facebook a little easier to work on, I post once a day and interact when people make comments. Twitter requires a little more work, I need to post more often, re-tweet, and have general interacting with followers for Twitter to be effective. Great question.
