Playing Catch Up

Such a busy time of year this is, isn't it?  I've been playing catch up these past couple of days.  I haven't had much time to list any new items (and we've got lots to add) or go and visit most of my favorite blogs or anything!  I think I've finally caught up on following back from the Meet & Greet Blog Hop...I think.  =0)

We got the boxes of Christmas decorations out on Friday.  But we haven't started the actual decorating yet.  We were supposed to do it on Sunday, but it just wasn't happening...

The weekend weather was horrible!  And what's worse is that my oldest son was supposed to run in a maraFUNrun, but because of the weather - we didn't go.  I didn't even want to drive in it, and I knew he wouldn't be prepared to RUN in that stormy weather.  It was really bad.  The wind was the real bad guy!  It had even knocked down a tree for the adult runners and the course had to be re-routed!  There was a record 9,000 adult runners for the actual marathon.  I'm not sure how many youth runners registered, but I know it was quite a bit.  It was the 30th annual marathon for the adults, and the 24th annual for the kids.  Kids sign up to run a small course, but they finish at the same finish line the adults use.  Kids also run on their own, prior to the event, so that when they've completed the maraFUNrun, they've completed a cumulative of 26.2 miles (a full marathon!).  But - we did not go due to the weather.  This means that my son will not receive his final achievement award for running an entire 26.2 miles over the course of a month and a half for Running Club.  Below you can see the ribbons he's already received.

I will be asking the advising teacher if there is something else we can do for the kids that did not attend the event.  They still deserve to be able to finish their miles, don't you think?

So, with the disappointment of missing the maraFUNrun, we weren't really in a decorating mood (although I'm sure it would've lightened spirits).  We'll decorate some time this week, though.  And, of course, I'll blog about it!

In other news...It's time to announce the winner of my WEEKEND FLASH GIVEAWAY in celebration of 2justByou BLOG reaching 100 facebook fans!!!

So sorry to hear he didn't get his last ribbon. I hope there is a way the kids can make it up. Such a shame they didn't move it into the school gymnasium or something. However, he did a great job, and I love the pics of the ribbons he earned! That's so awesome!

We haven't even taken the holiday decorations out. I was thinking about it the other day, but things have been so busy.

Thanks for the great giveaway! So excited.

Such a bummer about the weather for the weekend, sorry about the fun run and that your son didn't get his last ribbon! I hope he, and the others, will be able to finish their miles some other way.

Well, you are further ahead than me for the holidays... We don't even have a tree yet... December came SO FAST, didn't it?!!

Congratulations to Lisa!

Bummer you son was unable to participate in the run, but it's always better to be safe then sorry. It must be nice to have you house already decorated, I have been so crazy busy with my Etsy shop and the shows I had last week I have not even put up my tree.
