So I've got a question for you all.
When you leave a comment on a blog, do you go back and check to see if there was a reply to your comment?
My guess is probably not. I know I don't...At least, not usually. If it's a blog I visit often, and I know I asked a question, I might take a quick peek. Most of the time, though, I don't. But I love the idea of replying to comments. I've tried using the "reply" feature within the comments, but I just don't think that people come back to look for replies. So I'm asking you!
Most of the time, to show my love for comments, I'll go to the blog of the person who left me a comment and leave a comment of my own. It's my way of showing appreciation, and it's also an excuse to go and visit the blog! I don't get to visit all the blogs that I want, but I always try to go and visit the blogs with bloggers that have visited mine.
Well, just a few months ago, I received an email from a blogger friend, and she let me know that I was a No-Reply Blogger. What?!? How could this be???
As it turns out, when Google Plus profiles overtook Blogger, my Blogger profile was no longer in use. This wasn't huge news to me, but I learned that it can effect the traffic to your blog. I thought I had taken care of it by adding my blogger info (and link) on my Google+ profile page, but that takes extra steps (and clicks), making it kind of annoying. So then I began to go ahead and leave my blog URL with every comment. I then proceeded to revert to the old Blogger interface, so when I leave comments, it's with my Blogger profile (as opposed to my Google+ profile). This makes it easier for people to get to my blog when they click on my avatar or username by my comment.
Then, just a few months ago, I received an email from a kind blogger friend, letting me know that I was a No-Reply Blogger. What?!? Now how could this be? I thought I fixed that! Well, I guess when I reverted back to my old profile, some setting had been mixed up, so I had to fix it for my email to show. Now, when I leave comments, bloggers can reply to my comment by sending me an email! And I love getting replies!!! So it made me think...Maybe some of my readers would like to get replies from ME. But as I've come to notice, lots of my readers happen to be No-Reply Bloggers. So I usually end up just going to their blogs and leaving comments of my own (like I would anyway, even if I could reply too).
Anyway, if you're a No-Reply Blogger and want to change that, CLICK HERE for this great tutorial that not only explains how to make your email visible and able to accept email replies to your blog comments, but also how to switch back to the old Blogger interface from Google+.
What's your preference?
Would you like to be emailed a reply to your blog comment? Or would you be more likely to go back to the blog post and check for a reply?
Either way, I will always try to go to your blog, read a post (or two), and leave a comment of my own as well.
