Bare Trees

Part of winter and all its coldness...Bare trees.  Here are a couple of shots from around our neighborhood.

Winter months are depressing for a lot of people.  The weather, the time change with shorter days and more darkness, and the bare trees and empty gardens...The list could go on...

But there are other things that are great about winter too...Getting cozy with warm blankets and hot chocolate, trees that actually stay green (not a the best shot of one, but my son took it, so I had to add it - yes, the kids are liking the new camera too!), and being able to look forward to new blooms in the near months ahead.

Do you like seeing the trees bare?  Do you like the winter months?

I have never liked winter but I always keep in mind that afret christmas days are getting longer and there is more light so it cheers me up. Where i live there are cold winters and most of the time lots of snow so we dont see much bare trees but in snow covered trees and sometimes they are just so beautiful that this beauty can take your breath away :)

I'm not one for winter anymore...grew up in Buffalo NY so I had my fill. I don't mind it now, like you I just grab some hot tea and a blanket, then read a good book, watch a movie, and crochet. Now my hubby hates this time of year. It always make him antsy and needing a change, but he doesn't know what. lol. great pics by the way....a good camera makes a big difference.

Winter can be beautiful, especially after a fresh, white powdery snow. But after several long months of the cold, those first blooms of spring are warmly welcome!

I think you're right that winter can be a little depressing--especially if one is like me and is working in doors all day, but I still love winter for the fact that I can cuddle up with my boyfriend and watch Netflix with a cup of hot chocolate and bread. I think this winter messed with my head but it's all worth it, hehe.

I love seeing the trees bare! I don't see as dramatically here in San Diego compared to other places but I think bare trees look just as stunning as full trees!

I miss the sun, but now that it is Feb, it actually starts getting sunnier fast, so there is hope for spring! I like the shots of the trees against the blue!

Beautiful photos! Winter is dark, bitter cold, and very dreary in Chicago. So despite the beauty of snow (at least for a day before it turns black from all the trees ;)), it's not my favorite time of year. 6 weeks til spring!!!

Such great photos! I love how you focused on the branch to the left in the first one and blurred the background -so pretty!

Winter can definitely be very calm and quiet, and yes hot chocolate!!!, but after a few months I really find myself missing the grass, flowers, crickets, and all those good summer things.

I actually enjoy winter here in Germany, the problem is that I'm used to lots and lots of mexican sun, and I ended up in the darkest, less sunny state in Germany... light is what I'm missing the most in this German winters!
