Split Ends?

Do you have problems with split ends on your hair?  My hair has always been pretty healthy, but my daughter isn't so lucky.  We trimmed her hair recently, and - just for fun - we took before and after photos.

Can you see all those split ends?  Here's a close-up...

Not so pretty, especially at the bottom, here!
When you have dry hair, it becomes dull and brittle (and prone to split ends).  Too much sun and chlorine from swimming pools also cause dryness, and with summer time here...Dry hair is here too.

So she has really dry hair, and sometimes she straightens/curls it too, which doesn't help.  A stylist suggested this Redken product to help.

It's called Smooth Lock.  She's trying it out, but we'll wait for the total product review for later when she's used it more.  With it being summer right now, she's not using too much product in her hair.

If you want to try this Redken Smooth Lock, you can order right from our aStore (Amazon Store)!  We have promoted Amazon quite a bit, and we are now a proud affiliate.  You can browse and purchase some of our very favorite items, right from our 2justByou aStore.  =0)

You can visit our aStore any time by clicking on the widget in the left sidebar. Our aStore offers products that we've bought & tried (and loved) and other products that we highly recommend.  If I talk about it here on the blog, it will most likely be available in our aStore.  Check it out, and let me know what you think!
I also want to share with you a NATURAL way to help dry hair.  Awhile back, I was visiting one of my favorite blogs - Kanelstrand.  On Sonya's blog, I learned about her book, Banana Beauty.  That's right, beauty with banana.  Bananas are not just for eating; you can use banana as a part of your beauty treatments for your hair and skin!  I purchased this eBook full of awesome DIY banana beauty recipes, and we have tried the ones for better skin.  Let me tell you...They work!!!

In Sonya's book, there is a recipe for a Banana Hair Mask for Dry Hair.  Back when I purchased the eBook, at the end of 2012, I had only tried the recipes for skin (which are all excellent!) right away.  I had been meaning to go back to the book to try out all the recipes for the hair, but I had forgotten!!!  While preparing today's blog post, I remembered the Banana Beauty book, and took a look back at the recipes.  Guess what we'll be trying this week...Yep, we'll test out the recipe for the Hair Mask, and then I'll post about it in a couple of weeks.  We'll also be taking before and after photos!

In the meantime, if you want to check out Banana Beauty, it's available for purchase at Kanelstrand for only $3.99 as an instant download!  It includes great DIY recipes for better skin and hair using bananas.  You'll love it.

Do you get lots of split ends?  Have you tried the Redken serum?  Do you have any suggestions for preventing split ends?

And that's it for today, everyone.  Thanks for visiting, and have a great Monday!

Oh the ever lasting dry hair and split ends problem is just so horrible.
I have very dry hair but the split ends are staying away for now. I do cut my ends regularly and apply hair masks. I can't wait to hear how the banana mask turns out, I'm always in for a natural way to solve things.

I really struggled with this when my hair was long. I think the ends were just way too dry. Chopped it all off though, so yay!

I've seen that ebook, but never bought it. whenever I buy bananas for my house, they get eaten too fast.

I wore my hair long in high school and fought with split ends until I learned to use a serum on my hair before using a hair dryer and flat iron - without the serum adding that layer of protection I was frying my hair to death. John Frieda's Full Repair shampoo and conditioner are also great for when hair is prone to breakage.

I don't have problems with dry hair, but my mom does. I might get the book for her with a translation ;-) Oh, and the before/after picture of your daughter's hair is amazing. You'd never believe what a difference a trim can make!

My hair looks like her before photo -split ends, and damaged from swimming in the lake all summer. I'll look out for the full review of the product.
