September Squat Challenge

So my daughter is making me (yes, forcing me! I told her not to let me make ANY excuses.) participate in the September 30-Day Squat Challenge. I've been wanting to get on a routine exercise plan, but each attempt has failed. So together, my daughter and I are DOING this challenge! 


Today will be Day #6, so that's 75 squats. Wish my legs luck, because for Days 2-5, I've definitely been feeling the burn (even on the "rest day")!!! Sometimes it's hard on my knees (is that a sign that I'm getting old? If so, pretend you didn't read that.), so I'll take short breaks in between. I've been completing the challenge every day so far! 

So, what are squats and what do they work out? Here's the Wikipedia answer:
In strength training, the squat is a compound, full body exercise that trains primarily the muscles of the thighships and buttocks, quads (vastus lateralus medialis and intermedius), hamstrings, as well as strengthening the bonesligaments and insertion of the tendons throughout the lower body. Squats are considered a vital exercise for increasing the strength and size of the legs and buttocks, as well as developingcore strengthIsometrically, the lower back, the upper back, the abdominals, the trunk muscles, the costal muscles, and the shoulders and arms are all essential to the exercise and thus are trained when squatting with the proper form.

Squats are fairly easy to do, and look at all the advantages listed! 

I'm doing my squats plain for this September challenge, but next month I want to continue and add some small weights.

Good for you lady! Squats aren't easy! Exercise has definitely changed for me since getting pregnant, but I walk 2 miles at least every other day and lift hand weights on the other days.

Good luck with the challenge! 250 squats at the end? That will be an amazing accomplishment.

I really, really, really need to do this challenge. I hate to exercise but also hate what is happening to my figure since turning XX and after having three babies! I pinned it to challenge myself!

I love this idea! Good for your and your daughter. My daughter and I are working together on a healthier lifestyle too! You have inspired me to create a challenge for her and I to do together (but across the miles)!
