I like to think of myself as an optimist, but the truth is - an optimist wouldn't lose sleep over trivial thoughts or problems. An optimist could go to sleep and be well-rested, because he or she has an absolute positive outlook that whatever it is that's on the mind and in the thoughts, it will be all right.

Does that make me a pessimist then? I'll be honest. Sometimes, yes, I am very pessimistic. I think of it as a sort of defense mechanism. Sometimes I like to think the very worst, and that way I can be prepared for the worst. Is that a bad thing? Even though I might think the worst, I always hope for the best. Does that count for anything?

Do you consider yourself to be an optimist or a pessimist? Do you think one is better than the other? I'm a little bit of both, and I believe that, as with lots of things in life - a good balance is healthy. It's also just who I am. So it's me just being me, I guess.
