Bloggers & Blogs that Inspire Me

I never knew that I'd be inspired by so many bloggers when I first started blogging. I'm so happy to say that I've met some truly great people through the blogosphere, and I'm glad to be a part of something so dynamic.

I'm thankful for the experience that blogging has given me. The experience of meeting new people that I would have otherwise never met or gotten to know at all, and being inspired and moved by these individuals and connected like only bloggers can connect. I want these bloggers to know that they (and their blogs) are an inspiration to me.

Here's a super short list (there are more, I know) of some bloggers and blogs that I've discovered and that I find inspiring.

Valerie at Everyday Inspired always has great words of inspiration and motivation to share. Whether it's a tip for small business or just a thought for us to remember, there is always something great to read on her blog.

You might be familiar with Shane over at Whispering Sweet Nothings. I've got great respect and admiration for her, because she's something awesome. She's a true talent who knows how to keep it real. I love that. She supports great causes and has fun while doing so.

Melissa from Bubby and Bean shares some inspirational stories at her place, in between awesome life and style posts. One such story from this year was about her husband and his first marathon run.

I didn't have much time to prepare this post, but there are many more bloggers that inspire me. Remember, this is just the super short list.

Who are some bloggers that inspire you? Do you have a Go-To blog for inspiration? Share with me and let's be inspired together!
The Gratitude Linky is still up and running (two more days left), so I hope you'll swing by and share what you're grateful for!

Happy [Black] Friday to you all! The Christmas season is now officially upon us.

Lovely Things in Life {Lisa Salazar Art Decor GIVEAWAY}

"The creation of beauty is art."
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

I'm thankful for the lovely things in life that I can stop and take a moment to admire. There is so much beauty around us, and it's nice to be able to open our eyes and see it when we want to, and when we let ourselves.
Remember that the Gratitude Linky is open all month long, so if you want to share something that you're grateful for, please do so.

One lovely thing in life that I really admire is artwork. I am definitely no artist. I've tried to draw, and it's really no use. My version of stick people aren't even good! So when it comes to paintings and such, I have a deep appreciation for these works of art. Art is like music in that it can speak to everyone. There are pieces that are peaceful and have a calming effect, and there are pieces that are loud and bring a big smile to one's face. Art is definitely something to be thankful for in life.

It brings me great pleasure to introduce Lisa, the artist of Lisa Salazar Art Decor. Lisa offers beautiful original paintings and also a limited number of prints. I love the colors she uses to create her pieces of beauty. Her naturescape pieces are my favorites. And what is absolutely amazing is that she is self-taught, with natural talent. Even if I tried to teach myself over and over again, I would never be able to create masterpieces like hers! Lisa creates beauty; she creates art.

I asked Lisa to introduce herself, so here we go...
I picked up a brush for the first time three years ago. With no formal training my work has evolved without traditional restrictions. I opened my etsy shop in an attempt to share my work yet still hide behind it. Sharing my work with people I didn't know seemed like less of an emotional risk. The response was a positive one and slowly I was able to step out from behind my canvas. I entered local art shows and then became involved in boutiques where I was face to face with the viewer of my work. The most important lesson I learned was not to edit my paintings. A painting I feel is my worst is usually the one that speaks the loudest to another!

And here's our short Q&A session:
What are your favorite colors to work with in creating a winter piece?
I am a winter girl at heart and sometimes have to drag myself away from winterscapes. My favorite colors to work with in winter pieces are Prussian Blue, a very strong color, and grey. I use them alone and then combined to varying shades. Adding a touch of icy lavender can keep me working for hours.

What is your biggest inspiration?
I am inspired by anything and everything. A thought, an emotion or a quiet interaction often times ends up smeared across a canvas. The beauty and color I find in my Grandmother's gardens year round never fails to send me running for my studio in hope of capturing on canvas my random discovery.

Visit Lisa on facebook and be a fan:
and visit her Etsy shop here:

Lisa is graciously offering a lovely 12x12 original painting to one uber lucky reader. She sent me the photo of this piece, and I must say, it's a favorite of mine (and I'm secretly hoping she adds it as a print)! I could really see this piece in my home. It's called "REFLECT" and is signed, titled & dated on the back, a $40 value!
Giveaway is open to US residents, age 18+. Ends on Wednesday, December 11th, 12:00 midnight, Eastern Standard Time. To enter, please fill out the Rafflecopter form below.

Saving Money with Sales

Continuing with my Gratitude List, another thing that I'm thankful for is being able to save money with great sales. As Thanksgiving Day creeps closer and closer, so too does the biggest shopping day of the year - Black Friday. I must admit, I haven't really shopped any Black Friday sales in stores for a few years. But I've had my fun in the past, waiting in lines or braving the crowds and hoping to get that "Black Friday Deal" before that one must-have item on the shopping list gets sold out.

Well, if you're like me, and you do some shopping online instead of going out with the crowds full of people and long checkout lines, take a peek at some awesome sales being offered from members of the PCF Team on Etsy. You can shop for quality handmade goods and support artisans of small businesses.

There's a complete list of Black Friday and weekend sales, along with another list of Cyber Monday and Cyber Week Sales! Lots of great discounts and coupon codes to take advantage of, but don't just take my word for it. Go see for yourself! The lists are on the PCF Team Blog. Just click the button below.

Oh, and did I mention that you can still get a whopping 60% off at Madison Street Beauty? You can find natural mineral makeup with vegan selections for rock bottom prices. Check it out!

Do you know of any great deals going on that you'd like to share? Feel free to share with a comment! I'll give it a tweet. =0)

Good Times & Parties {Little Birdi Paper Shop GIVEAWAY}

The holidays always bring good times and parties to the schedule. It's a great way to end the year - with family, friends, great food and making memories. I'm always thankful for the opportunity to get together and have some fun. Aren't you? If you've got a blog post about something you're thankful for, be sure to join the Gratitude Linky, open through the end of the month!

Along with parties comes party planning, and with party planning comes party decorations. Decorations are SO much fun, don't you think? It's one of the best parts of planning an event.

Here at home, we have two birthdays that coincide with the Christmas holiday. At first, some might think that means extra presents for the birthday girl (or boy). What it usually means is birthday presents wrapped in Christmas gift wrap. People sometimes just straight out forget because of all the holiday chaos. It's always a "Merry Christmas" wish before a "Happy Birthday" one. I completely understand that it's difficult, and I'm not complaining. This is just part of the territory of sharing your day of birth with one of the biggest celebrations of the entire year. But since they are my daughters...I like to distinguish between the two events. I try my best to make them feel special on their special days. Last year we had a Zebra Theme, and it was pretty fun. This year, I have no idea - at least - not yet, but I have a couple of ideas...

My family and I - we are HUGE Disney fans. Huge. Some of you may know this already. I was super excited when I found out about Jenny's shop - Little Birdi Paper Shop (she is a fellow Disney lover!). I'm even more excited that I get to show you what she creates!

Do you need banners, cupcake toppers, or favor bags for an upcoming birthday party? Looking for a personalized ornament? Enter Little Birdi Paper Shop, where Jenny is dedicated to creating items such as these. Her shop is full of fun birthday themes and ideas for kids' parties. She's even got a few other items, like "Save the Date" and "Thank You" banners. Plus, I'm sure she could whip something up for Christmas or New Year's Eve too.

Here's our Q&A session:
How did you get started in creating party supplies & selling on Etsy?
When I was pregnant with my daughter, I was laid off from my job. I started brainstorming about what I could do to stay at home with her. I put my love of scrapbooking and papercrafting to use and my Etsy shop was born.

How did you choose your shop name?
My husband and I call our daughter Little Birdi because she is always eating off of everyone's plates. I wanted to incorporate her in my shop name because she is my number one reason for starting this shop.

What is one of your most favorite items to make?
I love to make Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Favor Bags. They are one of the first creations that I ever made and sold. They have become one of my most popular items.

Are there any colors that you especially like to use in your creations?
Right now I'm really loving playing around with colors I don't usually work with. I just made a Little Man Mustache banner with soft gray tones and bright aqua blue. The colors are so opposite that it works. I was very proud of the finished product.

Great news for my readers: Jenny is offering a 15% off discount with coupon code SAT15OFF, and it's good through 1/31/14!!!

In addition, she is sponsoring a giveaway here at 2justByou Blog, with the prize of a $40 shop credit. Giveaway is open to US residents and ends on Sunday night, December 8th at midnight, EST. To enter, please fill out the Rafflecopter form below. Good luck!

Music & Silence

I used to be one that needed music for everything as background noise. It didn't matter what kind of music, as long as music was being played. I needed it to do my homework. I seriously could not do homework without music playing in the background.

Now that I am older (and have a house full of kids & noise), I have learned to appreciate moments of silence as well.

So another thing to add on my list of things that I am grateful for is actually noise: the sounds of music & silence. I love and appreciate both, and I am glad that I can hear them. Music is a universal language, though, and silence is something that can speak for itself. Even the deaf can feel music through its rhythm and beats, which I think is amazing. Music even speaks in silence. How great is that?

What about you? What "noise(s)" are you grateful for?

A Place to Call Home

Monday I talked about how we're focusing on gratitude for the rest of the month here at 2justByou Blog. If you missed that post, click HERE to see it (and join the linky to share your blog post).

Today I'm sharing yet another thing that I am thankful for in my life - a place to call HOME. With all the chaos that's been going on in the world, I feel exceptionally lucky to have a roof over my head, a place that I can call home.
Decorative Pillows available for purchase at Ryens Marketplace.

Sure, I am frustrated when it seems that it's never-ending cleaning with dishes, laundry, sweeping, mopping. And I often times get angry when it feels like NO one in the house is helping me! But at the end of every day, I have a warm bed to sleep in and a roof over my head. I can't be mad at the fact that my house isn't spotless. It's still a place to call home, which is more than some people have, and I am thankful for that.

If you've written a blog post about things that you're thankful for, link up at the Gratitude Linky with me and share it. Click the button below to join the gratitude fun.
