How did you start selling on Etsy, and how did you choose your shop name?
I had been toying with the idea of selling on etsy for a long time, probably about a year, before I finally opened my shop. I have a love for hunting down unique vintage items and repurposing them or using them in my own home as decor. Etsy allows me to continue doing this without being overrun!
My shop name: I have two dogs, they are our furry children, and the name sprang from there. :)
What do you think is the BEST thing about vintage items?
I grew up in a home furnished almost exclusively with antique and vintage furniture. My mom taught me the value of vintage. So often older pieces have far superior contruction and attention to detail when compared to the cheaply made garbage you find in most furniture and decor stores, and the vintage items are often much less expensive too! This is true for everything from general housewares up to furniture.
How did you start making your wreaths? Will you be adding more wreaths to your shop?
I never thought I would be good at making wreaths. I don't really consider myself an artistic person, but I do consider myself a "willing to spend a lot of time and effort to figure it out" person. So I had a few disasters along the way, but eventually taught myself how to make fabric and burlap flowers and rosettes that I was happy with. From there I added various styles of felt flowers to my repetoire, and I haven't looked back. The wreaths are something I sell because I enjoy making them. I have sold most of my Christmas wreaths but I will be adding spring and summer themed wreaths in the next few months for next year. I am working on some designs and fabric combinations for those right now.
I am one of those rare thirty-somethings who is a total techno-phobe. To be honest I am not even sure what I am about to give you is the correct format etc. So far all I have managed to have with my shop would be pinterest and instagram. Instagram is mostly devoted to random pictures of my dogs. My pinterest is a mix of items from Two Dogs Designs and items or decor from others that inspire me. :)
