Fit for a Prom Princess {DressFirst Website Review}

The new year is just hours away now. Can you believe it? As much as I dislike the fact, it’s time to start thinking ahead for some events coming up on the calendar.

My oldest daughter is a junior in high school, and that means that junior prom is coming up real soon, not to mention the senior year just around the corner (which means the last of the big high school events: the final homecoming dance, senior prom, and ultimately, graduation day).

There are many, many places to search for the perfect dress for all of these special events of a lifetime. Searching online for a party dress can bring in tons of ideas! With so many big events, affordability is a huge factor for our family. Style is, of course, important too.

A website called DressFirst.com is a really cool site offering an extremely wide variety of special occasion dresses. From wedding dresses, cocktail dresses, evening gowns, to homecoming dresses and styles for sweet sixteen and prom – This website has got it covered. There’s even an entire category for Kate Middleton Style!

With so many dress options to choose from, DressFirst has great selections in the following categories (clickable links below & all images are clickable for better viewing)
* Top Sellers
* New Arrivals
* PromDresses
* Evening Dresses
* Cocktail Dresses
* Homecoming Dresses
* HolidayDresses
* Quinceanera Dresses
* Kate Middleton Style
* Little Black Dresses
* SweetSixteen Dresses
* Graduation Dresses

DressFirst makes browsing all of these dresses super easy with the ability to narrow your search by color, season, silhouette, neckline, train, embellishment, fabric, back style, straps, sleeve, and also by price. So if you have something very specific in mind, you can narrow your search to find that perfect dress even faster. How great is that?

The company ships globally and offers the option of shopping with many different languages and currencies for convenience. They seem to offer nothing but excellence in customer service, with a live chat available for presales. If you have a questions about a specific dress that you are considering for purchase, you can click on the “live chat” button and be helped right away! I did this as I was browsing prom/graduation dresses. A support operator was with me in less than one minute (literally).

I asked the question: Where do you ship from? [I could not find anywhere on the site that told me where the dresses are made or ship from.] The operator promptly replied that the company runs out of China and all items are shipped from the mainland. I tried to ask another question: Are all dresses made to order? Or are there some that are ready-to-ship? However, the live chat session was closed before I received any response. So that was a little bit disappointing, but I could have logged into the Live Chat session again and made another attempt. I know I would have been helped quickly.

I found browsing for prom dresses online very fun and easy to do with DressFirst. My daughter and I searched only within the category of Prom Dresses 2013. There are so many options to choose from, but my daughter chose the selected dresses to showcase for this post as some of her favorites. With prom being in March, it’s really closer than we might think. I am sure that we’ll be going to the mall and visiting the fitting rooms, but browsing online at DressFirst gives us an idea of what she’s looking for. And if we decide to order, we’ve got plenty of time, because DressFirst has excellent shipping times (I checked their FAQs section and saw that most orders take 6-11 days for production time after an order is placed and 15-30 days for shipment.). They also have special offers available sometimes, like Free Shipping and a special Sale Section with a weekly deal.

What do you think of her selections so far? Which one is your favorite?

If you’re on the hunt for some special occasion dresses - be it wedding, bridal party, or whatever the event - take a look at DressFirst.com and see what the endless possibilities and variety in selection they offer (not to mention the very competitive and affordable prices)!
It's New Year's Eve...What are you wearing tonight?

Birthday Sweets

Some of you may already  know this, but...My two girls share birthdays with the Christmas holiday. One birthday is on December 24th, and the other is on December 25th. As you might think, it's pretty tough to celebrate their birthdays! I thought I'd share their birthday sweets with you. No matter what, we always have special birthday sweets for their special days. And they are never holiday themed.

My oldest turned 17, and we had cheesecake (yes, it was goooood stuff).

My youngest turned 3-years-old on Christmas Day, and she (along with big sis) chose a Hello Kitty theme at the last minute. We made Hello Kitty cupcakes, with pink & purple swirled frosting.

Final touches included pink and purple sprinkles (all of my kids love sprinkles on anything they can add sprinkles to) and Hello Kitty cupcake toppers.

Big Sis didn't get to blow any candles out on her cheesecake, so we sang and had both girls blow candles on the cupcakes. Birthday sweets are always awesome!

I usually post something about our Christmas holiday celebration, but I wanted to share something a little different this time. We have family staying with us for the whole week, so I definitely do have some great holiday moments to share (soon). =0) Besides, last year, it took me three whole months to post about my girls and their birthday cupcakes. I didn't want to take that long to share them this time.

What is your favorite birthday sweet treat?

Words for my Wednesday

Christmas isn't a season.
It's a feeling.
~ Edna Ferber

I posted this photo on our shop's facebook page.
If you like tinsel on Christmas trees, go give it a "like!"
You can share your photos with us too. We'd love to see them.

We always put tinsel on our tree. I can't remember a year when we didn't have tinsel on the tree. It makes the biggest mess ever, but it also makes the tree look really great - sparkly and shiny. We have red and silver tinsel this year. We've had blue tinsel and gold tinsel before too.

We also re-use our tinsel. Some people think I'm really weird for doing that. Used tinsel looks just as good, though, I promise you. When we take the tree down, the kids gather all the tinsel they can, and we put it in a ziplock baggie for the following year.

We also have what seems to be a lifetime supply of tinsel, because one year at the After Christmas Sale, I bought a ton of boxes for 12 cents each. We have a bag full, but we've only opened one box so far, because we recycle our tinsel!

Do you like tinsel? How do you decorate your Christmas tree?

Handmade Soaps Make Lovely Holiday Gifts

One of the BEST gifts ever as far as bath and body selections go is handmade soap. I love handmade soap, and it's been quite a long time since I've bought anything other than handmade. I've had to go the unscented route since this past summer, due to eczema. But that doesn't stop me from peeking at all the lovely handmade soaps that are out there. Let's go window shopping, shall we?

What bath and body products do you gift during the holidays? Do you have a favorite bath and body product to receive?
