Making the Sidewalk Our Canvas

It's almost like winter never came this year. It was last month - January 22, 2014 - and we were outside in the afternoon playing with sidewalk chalk. No kidding! No long sleeves, no heavy sweaters, coats, or even a light jacket. Nope. That's how sunny it's been out here in California, pretty much all winter long.

This week (Wed. - Fri.) we're hopeful on getting some much needed rain here. You can read about my earlier post on California's drought woes and some water conservation tips here. If it does indeed rain tomorrow, it will only be the second time for significant rainfall all winter in my area...And spring is almost here. Yesterday we had a high temperature of about 75 degrees. But Wednesday we'll see 100% chance of rain, so with rainy days on the way (hopefully), I thought I'd post some photos from last month when my toddler daughter and I were making the sidewalk our canvas.

Gorgeous Veggie Sidewalk Chalk Colors

Tracing her fingers (at least, trying to).

We eventually had to tie her hair up more, because it was getting in the way.

"Painting" Her Canvas

You can tell which colors she liked best!

This fantastic set of Veggie Sidewalk Chalk was gifted to us by a friend. The sidewalk chalk is made with REAL fruit and veggies, so it's non-toxic and all natural. It is plant-based and made with organic food ingredients. It's the safest sidewalk chalk for babies, toddlers and kids (and adults too)!

We loved playing with the chalk so much, we wanted to share it with you here and encourage you to visit Wee Can Too yourself to see what other natural, non-toxic & eco-friendly products they offer. I know that we're definitely going to be ordering some more of the Veggie Sidewalk Chalk come spring time.

Great way to spend time outside with your kids! (jealous of your weather too... we had a snowfall up here yesterday)

I never see this sidewalk chalk before... but I know how kids love those outside activities. When I worked as school it was our "reword time" to spend one hour drawing on the sidewalk. Kids love them as much as spectators!

that looks like such fun...and what a great idea for chalk...I have never heard of veggie chalk. I'll need to get some for Owen.

I have never heard of sidewalk chalk made of veggie. There is always some way of being greener.

This reminds me of when my kids were little. They would spend hours coloring on the sidewalks with colored chalk.
