Working Together {Words for my Wednesday}

I know I've been MIA on the blog this week, but it's for good reason. I've been hard at work with the kiddos, working on a special project. Yesterday we finished up a custom order. It was a lot of hard work (with a deadline to meet), and I'm sure it wasn't how my kids thought they would be spending their Spring Break. But we were working together the entire time and got it done that way - together.

Sometimes working together is a real challenge, because we all know that siblings fight, right? I am really proud of my kids for working so well together for five days straight, even hours at a time. Sure, there were times when voices were raised, mistakes were made and the glaring eyes were darting everywhere, trying to place blame for extra work created. We encountered a couple of setbacks (running out of one major supply needed to finish the job and having its replacement be not quite as easy to work with; not having the right flat rate shipping box needed), causing us to really scramble at the end, watching the clock tick tock the minutes away.

These kids learned about working when you don't want to, waking up early when you want to sleep in, having a deadline to meet, and looking forward to your 30 minute breaks! They also re-learned the fact that you can get more done by working together as a team and getting along with each other. It slows you down when you don't. They cheered when they finished each step of the process. We had a mini-assembly line set up in our living room, with each person having a job. (I might post some photos in the near future, so stay tuned!)

Today, my kids got to ride along with me to the post office and drop off this package, knowing that they put hard work, effort & time into this order and that it's going somewhere special, where people will get to see what we do as a family:

Work. Together. As a team. Because that's how WE roll!

Do you like working in a team?

I think it's awesome how you all came together to work on this order. I'm sure years down the road when they kids are grown they'll talk about the time you all worked on that huge order together. ♥ Glad you got it done, can't wait to see pics.

It's so great that you got the kids to work together :) They should be very proud of themselves for helping out so much!
Your quote reminds me of when we decided to tackle new siding, roofing and windows on our house by ourselves...yikes!

Working in a team can be good and can be bad. Esp when it comes to family members. It's good they are able to

Just letting you know I'm following you. Would love to have you come check me out and hopefully follow me back http://nightowlventing02.blogspot.com/2014/04/hump-day-link-up.html

Yes I enjoy working as a team but my daughters always will suddenly start bickering at each other.

Fantastic words. I think I'm going to hang up this quote in my cubicle. Working together is extremely important but I feel like some people forget about that!

Congrats on your big order, and on the success you and the kids had with working together! That is a great life lesson and seems like a great/fun way to learn it.

That's great that you're teaching your kids to work for greatness! Too many people are so lazy these days.

This must have been a great experience for the kiddos. Projects like this working together will give them life long skills they will need in the future. :)

I think some of my favorite memories with my kids are when we worked together as a team. I hope that they feel the same way.
