A Painted Weekend

We had been wanting to paint the inside of our house for awhile now, and this weekend, it was just time to do it. My oldest son's birthday was over the weekend too, but we spent it doing prep work for the painting (although, we did have pizza!).

Priming the Walls

Taping Edges

More Paint Primer

We're still not completely finished. We did prep work (priming, taping, removing outlet covers) on Saturday and started the painting on Sunday. One thing I don't like about high ceilings - it makes it really hard to paint! We started with just doing the lower walls (stuff we could reach, being the shorties that we are).

I picked a light gray with blu-ish tint. It's called Twilight Gray. The picture really doesn't do it justice, but it was the best I could do at the time.

Today we'll be finishing up all of the walls (hopefully) and hanging new window coverings. We'll be saying goodbye to our big white wooden blinds and saying hello to pretty blue curtains with new decorative rods!

Needless to say, it was a busy weekend full of prep work and paint. I can't wait to have it all finished and sit in the living room to just look at it. =0) Our whole house has been plain white for the longest time. We just needed something new.

What color is your living room?

I love the texture of your walls! Fresh paint and window treatments really transform and revive a room!

Painting is my favorite way to transform a room! I like the color you chose. We have a similar, though slightly more blue, shade in our main bathroom.

Looking forward to seeing the end result. my living room has 3 very, very light grey walls, and one is a very light shade of pink.

it's looking good. painting is such a tedious job. that's why I keep putting ours off. lol. but we live in a double wide, so the wall are that crappy wallboard and paint doesn't stick. I've done the kids bedrooms (several times) and despite sanding and priming after a while, the paint just starts to peel off. so the living room will be paneled.

It's looking great! The texture of your walls is so cool too. My living room walks are white and grey - just like my wardrobe. ;)

Hi! Wow! You're very organized! I can't wait to see the final results. The color you chose is very nice. I like gray especially combined with blue. Looks like you had a fun and active weekend. Have a great week!

Great job! Our living room is nearly white, except for an orange accent wall.

Looking great! I like it when my husband and I painted our bedroom together. My living room is just plain white with framed mosaic art hanging on the wall.

Our living room is still white though all the other rooms got painted. We have high ceilings too.. it's a lot of time on ladders and rolling paint. Looks like you guys made good progress though! Yay!

Our walls are painted a creamy white one. Perhaps sooner or later when I have funds, I might change our walls to a livelier color! :D Love your walls by the way!

I live in an apt with boring white walls that I'm not allowed to paint. I wish I could add a little color to them! Yours is looking great so far!

Ugh...one of the worst jobs ever! You're so lucky to have your kids to help :)
Love the gray you picked out!

Painting is so tedious and time consuming, but so worth it in the end! It changes the whole atmosphere of a room. Good luck finishing up your project!

Looks Great! Good luck with finishing the task:) Ours is a rented apt with white walls, but I like it, that way I can add any color I like to the accessories!
