Celebrating Teachers {& Words for my Wednesday}

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Celebrate teachers, because they have such an important job. Growing up, we all have a handful of teachers that we remember. Teachers have an impact. There's no denying it. So let's appreciate all that they do for our kids and for us. Let them know that they matter, because they do! Even if it's just a small note of thanks. They'll love it. It's good to feel appreciated.

Yesterday (May 6th) was Teacher Appreciation Day. I wanted to share with you how we celebrated our teachers at my boys' elementary school. We gave them special deliveries at the end of the school day!

If you're an Insta-follower on Instagram, you got this sneak peek yesterday!

So what was inside our surprise special deliveries???

This key chain went to my 2nd grader's teacher, a very special lady. My son has improved in every subject in school (especially reading & writing), and I strongly believe it's because of this amazing woman - a teacher who educates students straight from her heart (and it's a big one).

And this pendant was also made into a key chain and given to my 6th grader's homeroom teacher. Teaching the last year of elementary school students and preparing them for middle school is tough, but the sixth grade team at our school does a pretty darn good job!

Yesterday while I was browsing twitter (yeah, it's a thing I do), I came across a bloggy friend (Vashti) and her post for Teacher Appreciation Day. Check it out here. I love her post, so much that I had to come and edit this to add it, in case you might want to hop over there and have a look.

We'll be rounding out our celebration of #TeacherAppreciationWeek with some homemade goodies later. I hope to post that here on the blog too. =0)

Do you have that one stand-out teacher that you remember from when you were in school?
I have a few of them. Teachers have the ability to inspire. It's just what they do, and for that, I am forever grateful.

A great teacher really makes all the difference. Even as a kid, you can always tell which ones are passionate about their jobs. Thankfully, I had more good ones than bad ones!

Beautiful gifts, teachers really do influence you. I had a wonderful art teacher who believed in me and I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for her.

What great gifts! That's wonderful that your kids have such a nice relationship with their teachers. I was very shy so I didn't get to know many of mine.

My mom was a teacher :) I am afraid others are not bright in my memory because of this :)

I have a stand out teacher that I still remember in my elementary school. His name was Mr. Garlington and he was so cool and really made learning fun! I remember my class and I throwing him a huge birthday party. I wonder how he is doing now?

My 9 year old's second grade teacher will be one of those teachers that he will remember the rest of his life. She was, and is, very special to us all. I think it's an invasion of privacy to FB friend teachers, pastors, and co-workers, but since we aren't at the same school this year, I made an exception for this teacher. :-)

Love, love, love! The quotes are fabulous, and the gifts are precious. But I can tell you, as a teacher, how much it means to have families support and encourage your efforts. That is priceless. Thank you so much for thanking the teachers in your children's (and your) life. :-) That is a gift that lasts a lifetime.

I had no idea my birthday was Teacher appreciation day! Good teachers are few and far between, which is a shame. I definitely remember the ones that made a difference in my life!

I loved this post. To tell the truth, we didn't do anything. But we give gifts in the fall, Valentines Day, Christmas and the end of the school year.
