Summer Playground {Words for my Wednesday}

Before this year, we really hadn't been to a beach in a couple of years. That's just a couple of years too long, in my opinion. So this year, I decided to make it a point to make sure our family visits the beach as often as we can.

We visited Folsom Lake for the first time. Because of the serious California drought, the lake is in extremely sad condition. We had to walk what seemed like a mile just to get to the beach from the parking lot. (In reality, it was probably about a little over a half mile trek.) I forgot to snap a photo of the view from the top where we parked. Usually the lake is just a few short steps, but this year, due to the lack of rain, it was all the way down a hill. Then when you do make it to the water, the lake looks like a little pond compared to what it usually is [so I've been told by frequent visitors]. So I do hope that we get a good amount of rain this year. Hopefully, there will be more of a lake next time we visit.

What's your summer playground?

Oh I hope we get some rain as well! I just read this morning that the state will implement fines for water wasters. I think the article was on KCRW if you want to look for it. It was interesting.

Great pics! Looks like a fun time :) My summer playground is the Rittenhouse Park! We love having picnics and reading our books there on pretty days!

You always know how to make it a great little trip!
It is hot here for now. We go for a morning walk into a garden, than have a nap in a room with a conditioner :)

Love those floaty chairs! Our playground is usually the river, but we've had the opposite problem this spring/summer...too much rain! The river has been so high our boats won't make it under some of the bridges and the floating debris makes it unsafe. We haven't had the boat out once this summer. Guess we'll boat this fall :)

That's a shame about the lake, but it still has wonderful scenery! Our beaches have the opposite problem - the state is always trying "sand replenishment" because the ocean wants to take over.

Its always nice to be near the water in the summer. I go down to Lake Ontario which is so big it looks more like an ocean. We have a nice skyline here in Toronto and nice parks alone the shore. I also go to Niagara Falls which is about an hour away from where I live, its beautiful there.

I think SoCal just got a little bit of a summer rain a couple of days ago. It was surprising, because I thought it was just the wind outside of my window.

I always love the beach. It rains a lot here recently and since I am now in my 39 weeks pregnancy, no more summer playground for me except walking around the neighborhood. Looks like you've had great time!
