Our #GivingTuesday Plans

If you follow me on any of our social media (like facebook), you might have noticed a change in my cover photos and profiles pictures recently. That's because I'm a social media ambassador for #GivingTuesday this year! I learned about this awesome campaign last year, but didn't participate. This year, I'm doing my best to spread the word for #socialgood.

The following info comes directly from the Giving Tuesday website:

WHAT IS #GIVINGTUESDAY?

We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
It’s a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Join us and be a part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity.

Giving Tuesday is the first Tuesday of December (this year, December 2nd). It's a day of giving back, no matter what you give, as long as you give. Learn about Great Giving and more about the movement! Watch this super short video. I'm serious - it's less than two minutes!!!

Our family is continuing to support the National Eczema Association, even though Eczema Awareness Month (October) is over. I still have yet to share our fundraiser and event we did for the organization...I just haven't had the time to post about it yet here on the blog, but we shared a few photos via Instagram (here and here).

But...For the rest of 2014, at least $1 from each sale we make from #shopjustByou (our Etsy shop) will be going to NEA. That is one way we are participating in the #GivingTuesday campaign, and we're excited to be a part of the movement.

November is a month full of gratitude, and Giving Tuesday is all about giving something back. I don't know about you, but I love it!

You can join the movement too. Just click HERE.
Even if you don't join the movement officially, you can still participate by giving back. Ways to give back are plentiful. Think about what you can give back and save the date: December 2, 2014!

Do you have a favorite charity that you would support for Giving Tuesday this year?

This is a wonderful movement. I think it's important to give back. Every year, we give to the Toys for Tots program. The kids each get to pick something out and drop in the box. Throughout the year we give to a charities

This is such a wonderful thing! I like to give to the Mother's Milk Bank of North Texas. I used to work there. It's a breastmilk bank.

What a great idea! I think it's so important for us all to give with no thought of what we will receive, or desire for praise. Thanks for letting me know about this.

And you deserve to talk about it...with all of the consumerist hype building up to Black Friday, something even more important deserves just as much attention:)
