A Merry Playlist {Favorite Christmas Songs} & My Greatest Mistake Ever Made

I had a whole sappy sentimental post planned for today, but time caught up with me, and the day is here already (and my post incomplete for proper publishing). So instead, I'm just going to start with this birthday wish to my oldest daughter today, the first of my two Christmas Babies. And I will warn that the rest of the post is just slightly sappy & sentimental.

And also to my daughter, I'll just say this...

Here are 18 things, because of you:

You gave me stretch marks. I wasn't ready for those, like I wasn't ready for a baby.

You made me grow up, made me more responsible.
You made me give up certain things in life.
You made me stress (gave me some gray hair!).
You gave me headaches.
You caused me worry, made life tough sometimes.
You frustrated me with your homework (and so many other things).
You made me yell.
You made me cry.

You gave me family.

You gave me so much more than I ever had to give up in life.
You made me appreciate the little things.
You taught me patience.
You made me smile.
You made me laugh.
You made (and still make) me proud.
You gave (and still give) me reason and purpose.
You complete me, and you always have.

That's just a list of 18 things. There's so much more to add, but this is only a blog post, not the life story.

You may have thought sometimes that you were nothing but a mistake in my life. But mistakes are meant to be made. Some of the best and most brilliant inventions were made by mistake (see this list). So while you and others might have said and thought that you were a big mistake for me, I think - and I know -  that you are MY greatest mistake ever made. Don't ever confuse that. Just because you were unplanned and I was unprepared does not mean that I don't love you. I wouldn't take back anything at all. Besides, I was a mistake too.

Happy 18th Birthday!
Now you're just makin' me feel old.

------------------------

So today we share with you a merry playlist of some of my daughter's favorite Christmas songs (I had to put emphasis on that "some," because I think her playlist is over 200 songs - yes, just Christmas songs!). I had her send me her top choices for the season from Spotify. We've been listening to this list while she and her brother and sister did a deep clean of her room.

Her most favorite (that I don't think is listed up there) is the Winter Wonderland/Don't Worry Be Happy mashup by Pentatonix, featuring Tori Kelly.

This next one by Ariana Grande will be stuck in my head for days to come too.
It's called Santa Tell Me, and you can watch the performance of it for the Disney Parks Christmas Day Frozen Parade (audio isn't that great, so you can also click the link above to hear a better version) below.

I definitely have to share I'll Be Home by Meghan Trainor too.

Also making the Top Five is Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas is You, and another one from Ariana Grande called Snow in California.

With that, we wish you Happy Holidays!
What's your favorite Christmas song?

*** Please note: I've decided not to continue with the rest of the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways. There are so many great giveaways, all happening at once, and I don't want to dim the spotlight on any for today and tomorrow (because I won't be here to promote them). Instead, I will share them after the holidays. In the meantime, we're hosting EIGHT current giveaways already, so go on and enter!

Awww! Happy birthday to your oldest. I love the 18 honest things you wrote for her. Christmas songs are so fun to listen too with others! I am a Michael Buble fan so when he sings the classics I always tune in. Ariana Grande was adorable on his holiday special this year! Have a Merry Christmas.
