Makeup Monday: Arabic Double Wing

My daughter has a pretty full makeup collection now, and she's been having awesome fun experimenting with new looks every now and then. The last time we shared a makeup/beauty post, we shared a Simple Day Look for our Friday Favorites. That was all the way back at the end of January, so I thought today would be a great day to do a Makeup Monday post!

This eye makeup look is called the Arabic Double Wing. It was her first attemp, and I think it came out beautifully! Plus, I really love how the shot turned out with the sunshine and its rays.

Back to the eyes...What do you think?

Makeup used:
Madison Street Beauty (MSB) Aloe Airbrush Setting Powder
MSB shadows in colors: Black Orchid, Bonbon, Azure, Nude Shimmer, Celestial Silver
Almay Liquid Liner in Black (for the lower wing)
benefit they're Real! mascara in Black.
On the Lips: mark. Glow Baby Glow gloss in honey

Lashes: KISS Lashes "flirty" (from Influenster J'adore Vox Box)

It was her first time using false lashes (and I've never used them either), but she did a great job with application, and they came out looking fabulous.

Overall, I think the lashes are pretty cool. Maybe for her next special occasion she'll get another set to use. Have you ever used false lashes? I haven't. And since I'm scared to death of contacts even, I doubt I would try them. But my daughter had fun with them!

Remember, you can always shop Madison Street Beauty and receive 20% off with coupon code MSB5. It never expires! Buy all natural mineral makeup at affordable prices.

Also, I wanted to share that Mommy's Club just launched the makeup line with Living Nature cosmetics last Friday. Below, you can see the entire line currently being offered, and I'm sure there is more to come soon.

These cosmetics are the safest out there and a number of prestigious awards in the beauty world have been received. Take a peek and you'll see what I mean. Here's a look at just some of the awards:

I am personally excited about the mascara, and it will be the first thing that I order. So, you can imagine a Buy & Try Product Review of that coming soon. I will probably also get an eye liner or a lipstick to try as well. I'm not sure yet.

And that's it for this Makeup Monday.
Have you experimented with any new makeup looks lately? If so, I'd love to hear about it! Leave a comment and let's talk beauty. =0)

Inspired by Henna {Product Review: Eternal Girl}

I am so honored to be introducing a blogger friend of mine, Julia. She is the owner of Eternal Girl Etsy shop and blogs over at Puella Aeterna. In Julia's words:
"Eternal Girl's jewelry is made of my own hand-drawn designs. Each drawing features an object that has specific symbolism to henna tradition."
Learn more at Eternal Girl's About Page.

I went through the shopping experience with Julia and chose the White Orchid Necklace. The orchid is one of my teenage daughter's favorite flowers, so I knew she would love this choice. It is beautifully hand drawn and set in a very pretty antique-style bronze pendant. The bronze colored chain is long and can be slipped over the head, so it's really easy to put on (you don't have to fiddle with the clasp at all). However, you can order a shorter chain as well. I just opted for the longer length.

When the package arrived, my oldest daughter LOVED the origami box that it came in. The dome shape of the pendant is really cool too.

And, as can be seen in these photos, my older daughter had to share with my younger daughter. She likes the necklace (a LOT) too. My lil diva of a toddler wanted to be the model for the photo shoot (and big sis agreed to it).

As anyone can learn from visiting Julia's shop, "in henna tradition, flowers represent joy and happiness." I chose the simplistic white version, but many of Julia's items are made-to-order, and you can request colors with no problem at all. Flowers do have the ability to cheer people up, don't you think?

Here's our quick Question/Answer Session!

Q: Describe your shop in five stand-alone words.
A: Henna inspired, hand drawn jewelry!

Q: What is your biggest inspiration?
A: Henna artists.

Q: What about spring time are you mostly looking forward to and why?
A: The warmth! I love the sun.

Q: What's your current favorite nail polish shade?
A: I love pink.

I really encourage you to take a peek at Julia's shop. Her designs are beautiful. There are simplistic options, like the one I chose, and there are more detailed options that will blow you away! The colorful designs are excellent pieces of art that would be sure to brighten anyone's day - just like in henna tradition, joy and happiness. Plus, there are greeting cards too. I don't know about you, but I love me some good snail mail. Check it out. I dare you. =0)

To make the most of this link party, please follow the rules below.
1. You MUST add your hosts and co-hosts to one of your circles before linking up.
2. Link up your personal Google+ profile, blog or business G+ pages but NOT your blog URL.
3. Share ONE post ONLY - (new or old) on G+ and use the hashtag #GrowingCirclesHop

Google+ Tips

The real participation comes with sharing a blog post to G+ using the party's hashtag and engaging with others who are also sharing posts from this party. Interaction and engaging with others on G+ will bring you the most success! You will notice some posts have a very large picture associated with their post and others have a tiny picture. To increase your chances of being shared, post a photo along with your post link and NOT the tiny one that gets posted automatically with the link. The bigger and more clear your photo, the better chance of it being shared because those are the posts that G+ users want to share with their followers.

If you want to be notified the next time the Hop starts, give us your email below and we will send you a quick notification the next time it goes live.

Placing at the Science Fair

Last week was the Science Fair at my son's school. He spent a couple of weeks doing his project, working on the "procedure" part and gathering his data. It was a pretty fun project, where we all had fun with it. Last year at his first fair submission he received an honorable mention ribbon. He didn't think he'd get any recognition this year, but it turns out that he won 3rd place for his grade level!

Top: 3rd place, Battery Life; 1st Place, Fat Free vs. Whole Milk
Bottom: Honorable Mention, How Greasy Are Your Chips?; The Recent CA Drought

My son's experiment was testing brand name versus generic alkaline batteries and seeing which would last longer. He tested four brands of batteries: Energizer, Duracell, Panasonic and Safeway Store Brand. His final results showed that brands do not matter. What really matters is the expiration date of the battery. So, when buying your batteries...Check for the expiration date rather than the price to get your money's worth.

I didn't get a chance to snap a shot of the 2nd place winner board, but I included this year's Honorable Mention Ribbon winner (I thought it was a great project! It was testing the greasiness of chips.) and another project that I thought was pretty cool because of all the time, research and effort that went into the project on the CA Drought.

Do you remember the Science Fair when you were a kid?
I never placed, but I received an Honorable Mention Ribbon once. Just once. My daughter received Honorable Mentions as well. One time she created a weather map. I remember that one, because she hand-drew the map of the United States and added all hand-drawn graphics for the weather. It was great! Science Fairs area always fun.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I also get to announce a giveaway winner today! The Surprise for YOU Giveaway ended. BIG thanks to all of you entrants. Lisa and I are always happy to team up and offer you some great prizes. =0)

Megan won a crystal necklace and a crochet hair comb! Congrats, Megan!
Entries for the bonus prize were not used, so those particular bonus prizes may be up for grabs in the near future.

Oh, and before you go...

Picking Dandelions {& an Instagram Link Up}

It was a fairly laid back weekend, but I didn't get much done on the computer at all. It was another weekend of being almost "unplugged" from cyber world. And it was nice. It also means that I didn't get today's post completely finished, and I'm really late with posting today anyway. So instead, here's something different than I had planned...

The photo above is the latest post from our Instagram feed. The kids went to the park, and Baby Girl LOVES picking dandelions!

We've had our Instagram account since late August 2013. But our posts were spread out, because I personally did not have a mobile device to be able to post. Posts were done by my daughter, and only when we (or she) remembered to do it (not often).

In January, she bought me a cell phone (love my daughter!). You can read about that here. I set myself up with the Instagram app, and she was glad that she would no longer have to be doing the posts and managing different accounts (yeah, I think it was the real motivation for buying ME my own phone - so we didn't have to use hers)

I've slowly been gaining followers since then, but I thought it would be fun to have a little no-rules linky this week. That's right - NO RULES. Simply link up!

Leave the link to your instagram account! Visit one or two others and follow if you want. If you do decide to follow me (@2justByou), please leave me a blog comment so I know. You can do this for any other accounts you follow too. Just leave them a nice blog comment and make their day a great one. Sometimes it's hard to tell where your new followers come from, and I always like to know, if possible, because I like to know how people found me. But remember, these are not rules - think of them more like helpful hints - just have fun with it!

Are you on Instagram? What do you like to share there? What are your favorite posts from others?
I like sharing little bits of the day, or maybe a snippet from a blog post. I love seeing posts from everyone else that include what inspires them, or fun and interesting places they go to on their travels. I've seen some really cool foodie shots too (I don't know about you, but I really don't ever get tired of foodie photos).

So here it is, let's link up! (Hint: you have to upload your photo to display.)

How was your weekend???

Sneak Peeks

I thought today would be just a great day to give you some sneak peeks of blog posts soon to come.

I won an awesome handmade (by a Pro Rep Member) tote bag from Mommy's Club, and I'm loving it. It's big enough to hold all of the natural, organic, non-toxic goodness that Mommy's Club offers. Feeling pretty exclusive too, because these totes are not [yet] for sale! I'm also trying out some of the newest products for the home - Clean and Tough Stuff - for my spring cleaning.

Never have I been so excited for spring cleaning. Buy & Try Product Reviews coming soon (hint: I think I'm getting better at making videos).

And something coming soon for our handmade shop...A new style of dog tags.

These are thicker and shinier than the other tags that we currently offer. The necklace above will be the first one to be listed for sale. What do you think?

Lastly, I've decided to participate in the Ultimate Blog Party 2014, hosted by 5 Minutes for Mom. I've participated before, but not as actively as this year. Because this year...We'll be donating a prize! But to find out what you could win, you'll have to join me at the party. ;)

Ultimate Blog Party 2014

Hope to see ya there!

Do you have any Sneak Peeks to share?

Goodbye Cable TV

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! I hope you're wearing green. Wouldn't want anyone to be getting pinched all day long. =0)

About two weeks ago, we said goodbye to our cable TV. Cable, Satellite - I consider it the same, anyway. Our service was/is provided by Dish Network and they were scheduling another price increase. Nope. Couldn't do it. Not this time. I had been meaning to pull the plug on the TV for months, and the price increase was the big motivator to get on that phone and make the call. I called and did the downgrade. I kept Dish as our provider, but we have the very lowest option for programming. I couldn't bring myself to take away all of our DVR events. We've got tons of movies recorded, so I opted to keep that while still slashing about $65 off our monthly bill.

Overall, it's been a little bit of an adjustment for the kiddos. You see, our family is big on Disney. All things Disney. I even explained to them while downgrading that, most of the time, we're watching Disney. Seriously, I don't think there was a single day with at least 30 minutes of Disney Channel. There are no other programming packages that offer the Disney channel with a lower price, so we'll just have to do without.

It's really been just fine by me. Sure, we miss some ABC Family shows (I love the comedy Baby Daddy), and we don't have our other favorite networks, like USA and all of its awesomeness with original series shows too. But we'll survive. We had to cut costs somewhere. And I'm still working on downgrading other things too (more on that probably to come in a future post).

Turning off the TV can be such a great thing, though. We're encouraging activity instead, and with spring time and warmer days on the way (not that we've had a shortage of those here in California), getting outside is always a great thing. We'll start taking family walks in the early evenings, I think.

My daughter and I will be starting a new 30-Day Challenge in April. Yeah...We took a bit of a break for the month of March, so we're slacking right now. Terrible, I know. But for April, I'm thinking abs and arms (except I can't really do lots of push ups, because of my wrists, so I'll probably substitute with something else).

I find that 30-Day Challenges are perfect, because they're short term enough to stay motivated and actually get through it. You can find great 30 day challenges at 30 day fitness challenges.

So while we say goodbye to cable TV, we're saying hello to physical and outdoor activity. Two thumbs up! We're saving money on the cable bill and working our way towards a healthier lifestyle with some fitness goals for the entire family.

If you had to cut costs to help the family budget, what is the first thing that you would get rid of?
