Plus, I've started some other work-related activities this month (outside the comfort of home) that are making me realize I need to work on my time management skills while adjusting to the new change. After being a stay-and-work-at-home-mom for nearly 10 years, I have to re-teach myself the skills to really multi-task all over again. It's difficult, but I'm managing all right so far - with the exception of still being a little bit behind schedule with a few things.
A little background, I completely dived in with a job search at the end of last month and started applying at random places with job postings that I thought I could handle while still doing work at home. After being out of the paid job workforce for so long, I had no expectations that I would ever in a million years get a call back so quickly, but it happened. Crazy, right? Yeah, I thought so too. Although I did not get the job (yet, maybe, I don't know), I'm actively searching. By the way, job search is a job in itself - unpaid, yes, but it is still work. It really is. I had forgotten what the whole process involves, and I seriously need to brush up on some skills (Oh hey, resume, where have you been? Interview readiness? Uhhh...I think not!). Things that I had been fairly confident about years ago are now terrifying me.
My little baby girl started daycare/preschool (you can see some of that on instagram). She LOVES it. I'm pretty sure that her favorite part is all of the art activities. She's such a little creative girl! She experienced painting with an easel and thinks the world of it. I think it's pretty safe to say that an art easel is now on her wishlist. Yet while she's so eager and willing to go to preschool, I'm the one with the attachment issues. This is a first, because with all my other kids the willingness was not there.
With all the hustle and bustle of being busy trying to catch up with the blog, the shop, the job search and starting new adventures like preschool, it was a pretty chaotic week. Throw in a sick kid mid-week, and call it even crazier. So many doubts about my capabilities started to surface.
As Thursday winded down, I came to a realization, and I shared it with a tweet. I'm sharing it here today too, because if any of you are in the same mindset as me this week - the one where you have so much to do and you're stressed because your To-Do list is so long it's completely off the notepad and the days don't seem long enough - maybe it will help you out.
Just breathe. Tackle that list one line at a time. You can do it. I can do it. Believe in yourself.
