Weekend Happenings

I must admit that with the business of life lately, I haven't been very motivated to blog much at all. It's just been a really chaotic and busy past few months. Confession: I have more than 10 half-finished blog posts waiting in my drafts that I really should finish. I need to, and I will. Eventually.

I've got a lot going on right now, though. I don't want to overwhelm myself. But I do hope you'll be sticking around, because I'll get through this blogger slump. Better days are coming, and I will be having lots to share with you!

Today I'll share some little moments with you - the weekend happenings, captured in photos.

Roasted Almonds

These past few years I've really been trying to eat healthier and just be healthier overall. Then in September of last year, I took on a six-week fitness challenge, thanks to a good friend. Participating in that challenge really made me want to better my eating habits. Almonds are a healthy snack option. I roasted the ones shown above, but only slightly, because I like the taste of raw almonds. How do you like to eat almonds?

Banana Bread Muffins

I've always loved banana bread, and I use my mom's recipe. It comes out perfectly moist and delicious every time. If I don't want to make loaves, these muffins are great for a quick grab 'n go breakfast. And the kids love them!

Honeydew Slush

Lately, Baby Girl has been a BIG fan of the frozen yogurt shop that's near our home. She always gets the same thing - chocolate yogurt with whip cream, cherries, and some chocolate sprinkles. She doesn't switch it up very often, and if she does, it's only to add a little bit of mochi.

On our most recent visit, I got a Honeydew Slush to share and try out (we've never had any of the drinks or teas offered there before). It was really good. My oldest son actually ended up drinking most of it, even though he was supposed to share with everyone else. But yeah, it was that good!

Princess Slippers

My oldest son saved up his money to buy himself some new running shoes. Sunday was the day. We took a trip to the mall, and while walking through Sears to get to The Footlocker, Big Sis spotted these Disney Cinderella princess slippers. They're cute little jelly sandals for summer, with a little heel that lights up. Well, Baby Girl was immediately enchanted with these. She needed some summer shoes anyway, and Big Sis agreed to split the cost with me. Baby Girl now has some new princess slippers. She wore them right away and proudly carried the bag around for the rest of the shopping mall trip.

Spider Flowers

I never knew there was a flower called Spider! They're really pretty and come in different colors. I like this yellow and orange variety. It's bright and cheerful. I love how flowers can just make a person happier. Don't you?

So, what were your recent weekend happenings?

What a great post! LOVE those slippers too, Big Sis has a great eye! With all you do in your life, I'm not surprised you're feeling a bit overwhelmed. Hang in there! We'll be here when you're ready!

Raw almonds for me! I'm eating some trail mix right now that has roasted and salted almonds in it, and they're throwing me off a little. Haha.

I have a huge craving for banana bread lately. I'm not sure why. I'm thinking of getting out now to get some banana bread. lol. I'm not a big fan of almonds though. And the Disney Cinderella princess slippers look cute.

The body feels so much better when you eat healthy. Over time, cravings for unhealthy stuff decrease (although are still there)! I love almonds both ways, roasted or raw with no salt. Your daughter's princess shoes are adorable. Spider flowers are so beautiful. I love your photo!

This is very cool and you have been busy. I've been trying to eat healthy too, but then it all went out the window a couple of months ago. Life always gets busy. We have had a lot of medical things come up lately so that's been occupying us so we've been bad at blogging too. Time to get back into it!

That honeydew slush looks amazing!

This was actually a quiet weekend for me. My toddler and hubby were out of town so I treated myself to a date with myself. Dinner, yogurt and a movie (The Age of Adaline--and it was amazing).

It's funny how parenthood changes you. Five years ago, I would have been meeting up for dinner and drinks with the ladies, now I'm just happy to have a moment of solitude to myself ;)

Cute princess shoes! Isn't it a shame that grown up princesses don't get to wear shoes like that?!

Flowers definitely make me happier! I had a rough Monday, so Ogre bought me a bouquet to cheer me up. One of them looks a lot like your stunning spider flower!

I also badly need to think that "Better days are coming", though the blog is on track now but my shop is a mess, no sale in months!!
We eat soaked Almonds every morning!
You are so right, flowers always brighten the day!
Hope you finish the drafts soon:)

Nice! That honeydew slush looks crazy good! And yes to almonds: I usually blitz them with a raw apple, a splash of milk and a spritz of lemon juice in a food processor for a quick muesli. A nice breakfast or lunch!
